Joaquin Velasco is a specialist in international taxation for the banking sector with over thirty years’ experience advising global banks and multinationals. Mr. Velasco studied economics at Madrid Complutense University. During his long experience as a Partner with EY (Ernst &Young), Mr. Velasco led on the contemporary and critical issues in the European banking sector. He advised foreign financial institutions entering the Spanish market on starting operations and executing acquisitions. He assisted the expansions of large Spanish financial institutions into Latin America, Europe and the United States, largely through acquisitions. In recent years, he was active in structuring transactions (resells to the private sector, bank bail-outs, combinations, etc.) to the Spanish bank crisis after 2007. He was appointed to a non-executive board position for CRB Inverbio Venture Capital Management Company and is advisor to the Chairman of ROAN real estate group.
